Birthday Boy

In reflecting on Paxton's 2nd Birthday, I have decided that it was in terrible two fashion.  He started the day as a grumpy one year, and ended the day as a grumpy two year old.  {How Sweet!}  We weren't really sure how big we should do the day since he is only two.  {I mean, He's not going to remember it.}  In the end, we decided he should have a special Birthday breakfast, a lazy morning at home; then we would send him to school with a special Birthday snack, so his friends and teachers could celebrate him. We were to pick him up after nap to spend the rest of the evening together as a family.

We took him to Target to pick out a Birthday toy, then we headed over to Olive Garden to eat Paxton's all time favorite...Italian!  When we got home from dinner, one of Paxton's friends came over to wish him a Happy Birthday in person and they played outside until dusk.

The special note on his paper from school just about summed up the day...

so my child..

He requested he be swaddled like a newborn in his frog towel when he went to bed that night.  Silly boy must have been feeling a little too old!

And then there was the BIG gift.  That came later.  Paxton loves "choo choo's"!  We have a wooden train track that lives in a toy bin and gets dumped out at least once a day.  I have really wanted a train table for him, but Benito and I have disagreed on where such a thing should live in our tiny house.  I saw a few good deals on craigslist and one particular one was willing to deliver {big deal}, so we jumped on it.  It was delivered to us after Paxton and I left to go on a trip with my family to Tennessee.  So when we came home, it was all set up and ready to play with.  I wish I would have gotten his reaction on camera.

Here are some other pictures though:

"Hey cool!  This thing has a landing pad for my helecopter!"

Silly Daddy!
