Potty Training Woes

Paxton has been potty trained {pee pee style} for about 3 weeks or so, but pooping has been a bit of a struggle.  In fact, to be blunt, he poops in his underwear and I clean it up daily.  {It's getting old.  I'm trying to be patient, knowing it can't possibly last too long.}

Last week, we were out to eat celebrating the news that I passed the NCLEX when Paxton says "I need to poop".  GLORIOUS!!!

So, we rushed to the bathroom and then started the dilemma.  I opted for the handicapped stall with a taller potty.  I lined it with toilet paper and sat him down, but he felt awkward.  Then, i opted to take off one shoe and pant leg to give him more stability.

Then, he said "I think I need to stand up".  So, I stood him up, but that potty was too tall.  I picked him up and moved all his glory to a different stall with a shorter potty.

He stood for a minute, then said "I need to sit."  So, i turned him around and he sat.

All was well until I had pee flying directly towards me.  Thinking his misjudged his bowls, I stood him up and turned him around right quick.  When I stood him up, I noticed poop in the potty!!  AWESOME!!

But then I noticed that he apparently wasn't done pooping.  NOT AWESOME.

There was poop all over the back of his pants...and then i noticed some more in his underwear.

And I was stuck all alone in the bathroom with him lacking a diaper bag or even a cell phone to call for backup.

So I did what any good mom would do in that situation and improvised.  More poop got on his leg when I was attempting to take his pants off.  NOT GLORIOUS.

I wiped as much of it off of him and his pants with toilet paper, threw the underwear away and put the same pants back on him.  {I'm sure he was feeling traumatized watching Nemo go in the trash and putting dirty clothes back on.}

I toted him barefoot back to the table and ran out to the car for some spare clothes.  As I was outside, the food came {sounds delicious}.  I picked Paxton back up and took him back to the bathroom to change while he's yelling "but I want to eat my chicken!".

We got all cleaned up, washed our hands and settled in to eat dinner.  I didn't even get to share what happened with Benito because I didn't want him to hear that while he was eating his beef tips tips covered in brown gravy. {How ironic!}

All the while I couldn't stop telling Paxton how proud I was that he said those four glorious words: "I need to poop".

First thing the next morning, I was on amazon looking for a portable potty seat cover.

  2. I actually never ended up buying one. I was wondering how you moms of girls do it! He pooped in the potty every day for 2 weeks straight and is now back to pooping in his pants daily. :) Fun.
